Respite Care Support

Our Respite Support Services are designed to provide safe, reliable, and non-therapeutic care for children and youth. This service focuses on supervision, engagement, and well-being, while offering caregivers meaningful time to rest and recharge.

This is not a therapy or intervention service. It is a supervision-focused respite support where staff ensure safety and engagement during the service hours. No structured teaching or clinical programming is implemented.

Purpose of the Service

The purpose of respite support is to:

  • Provide caregivers with temporary relief from caregiving responsibilities

  • Ensure the child’s safety and well-being in a supportive environment

  • Offer opportunities for engagement through play and daily activities

Understanding the Nature of Respite Support

While our centre also provides therapeutic services, respite support is intentionally designed to be different in purpose and structure.

Respite sessions are not intended to extend, reinforce, or follow up on therapy goals. During these times, children are supported through supervision, play, and general engagement rather than structured learning or program-based activities.

Families are encouraged to view respite as a time for their child to be safely cared for and engaged in a relaxed, low-demand environment, rather than a setting focused on skill development or measurable progress.
